Mini-Challenge: Find a Poem

The Hungry Readers are hosting a Find a Poem challenge, so I've been picking words and sentences from Godmother: The Secret Cinderella Story and put them together into something resembling a poem:

like two halves to one heart
my wings unfurled

far above us
the water bright blue
tangled branches dripping
half in shadow

her eyes flung open
drifted toward the surface

gnarled branches swayed
vines stretched out
like stars and waving grass
bathed in sunlight

fluttering like a hummingbird
I turned

written in the leaves
in the branches and the vines
the air like mist
a great joy

she gave herself to it
laughing

all light
always light
to the flowers and grass
quiet and calm

everything seemed possible
